High School Youth Pursuing Excellence

HYPE is a leadership training group designed to challenge and guide the advanced students of CYT to be leaders inside and outside of CYT. Getting involved by serving the community around them, continuing to grow as an individual, and committing themselves to excellence in all they do are the core components of this CYT program. Our HYPE leaders serve as examples and leaders in our class and production communities. Participating in HYPE is by application and selection.

CCT - Christian Community Theater

Prince and Princess

Our CYT Princesses act as ambassadors for CYT appearing at community events such as the Kootenai County Fair, Lantern Festival, and the Spokane Lilac Festival.  In addition, they are often asked to visit children in the hospital and they bring squeals of delight to many a young girl's birthday party.  Princes and Princesses receive special training on how to become their  characters.  Participation in this program is an excellent way for students to learn how to use their God-given gifts to serve the community inside and outside of CYT!
The CYT EXPO is an annual celebration of our CYT family. It is a chance for us to bring unity to CYT Affiliates across the country through workshops, gathering, sharing, and more (which includes singing, dancing & performing – we are CYT, after all). The EXPO includes CYT students as well as Affiliate leadership.

The three-day EXPO hosts our national Improvathon competition, HYPE trainings, leadership meetings, and student aactivities.
CYT wants to ensure that students everywhere have an opportunity to experience the wonderful world of theater. CYT@school is a low-cost after school program that supports performing arts training in public and private schools.

The CYT@school program consists of eight weeks of drama, voice, and dance training which offers sound theater art instruction while also building character. All participating students perform in an end-of-session Showcase that is literature-based while still being very popular with students. Our teachers are enthusiastic positive role models who lead and inspire.
The Improvathon is an annual comedy showcase and competitive theater event for CYT students. Teams from all over the country get together each summer at the CYT EXPO to take part in the IMPROVATHON competition. It’s a hilarious way for students to showcase their talents, think quickly, and step out of their comfort zones.

CYT Tour Group

CYT Tour Groups are ambassadors for CYT North Idaho. Our students bring CYT into the community in smaller settings for a variety of occasions. CYT Tour Groups perform for school assemblies, at organizational dinners and meetings, as pre-event entertainment, for community fundraisers and health fairs, for private parties, special occasions and at senior living facilities. They also can share their talents with local Veterans agencies. Tour Groups range in size from 10-20 students, ages 8-18. All our shows are suitable for all ages.
