Class Description

Come dip your toe into the world of theatrical design and production! Each week we will focus on a musical or play and dive into different aspects of production. Each student will get an opportunity to dabble in every assignment: set designer, costumes, props, and even director and actor. We will take a close look at the magic and makings of scenes such as Cinderella’s transformation, the intricacies of the set and tech of Wicked, and the brilliance in the seemingly simple set and costumes of Hamilton. In addition to design, students will learn about directorial concepts and character development as an actor as well as a director. This class is perfectly suited for anyone who wants to broaden their horizon and gain more appreciation for the efforts that go into every production!

Teacher:

Kynzie Washington

From ages 10 to 18, Kynzie participated in camps, classes, and shows at CYT and loved every minute. Since graduating, she has been involved in many local productions, favorites including Children of Eden and the Hunchback of Notre Dame at Aspire. Kynzie has enjoyed teaching camps with Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre and directing musicals at Dalton Elementary. Outside of work and rehearsal, you can catch Kynzie roaming Disney parks or watching movies with friends. Theatre has taught her more than she ever thought it could, and she hopes to share her joy for the performing arts with all of her students.
