Class Description

This class will cover acting fundamentals, staging, movement and character interpretation. We will also go over audition basics, terminology, theater etiquette, and an overview of backstage functions. Perfect for anyone just starting out in theater!

Joie Jockheck

Joie is originally from Pierre, South Dakota. She attended Indiana University, majoring in Elementary Education. She spent one year in “Up With People”, where she traveled throughout the United States and Europe performing a Broadway style musical and conducting community service and school projects within each of the 50+ communities visited. In the show she specialized as a vocalist and primary keyboard player. Once she began teaching, Joie started a middle school drama program in the Harrisburg School District within South Dakota, and went on to become the high school musical director in the Canton, SD School District. She has directed such musicals as: Back to the 80’s, High School Musical Jr, Beauty and the Beast, and Grease. She is currently a 7th grade English and Drama teacher in the Post Falls School District. Her passion is working with kids and helping to create an excitement for the arts! She is thrilled that God has blessed her with the opportunity to teach in such an amazing environment combining her love of kids, drama, and God!
