Monologues are not something we often run into in musical theater. The song is the monologue, simply put to music. But in straight plays and more dramatic types of theater, monologues are the actors bread and butter, their time to shine, and for the audience to have a better understanding of their character while they wax eloquent, uninterrupted by dialogue. Monologue skills are something every actor should master, even if they have no plans to veer away from musical theater. Many theaters require monologues for auditions, and monologues do sometimes make their way into musicals.
In this class we will develop the skills to command the stage, with no music, or dialogue, to lean on! We will dive into character, development, vocal strength and timing, and pacing in order to hold your own on stage while delivering a monologue! Join as and grow your acting skills!
